Carpel Tunnel Syndrome - Brief Outlook

Carpel Tunnel Syndrome: Ayurveda View

Symptoms:

Pain in the wrist, thumb and sometimes in the first three fingers too.

Numbness will be there as an associated symptom.

Symptoms may aggravate during the night hence the sleep will be disturbed.

Weakness of the muscles in the palm wrist and thumb area may be shown.

Burning sensation also will be there in the most of the cases.
Pain may be spreading upto the arm at later stages.

Early Diagnosis and treatment will be better.

Median nerve is affecting in this case.

At the later stages it may leads to lose the coordination of the palm and fingers, especially when writing, holding things, while using the computer mouse, driving and counting the currencies.

Emaciation of the muscles of the palm and thumb also may happen.

To confirm the condition, hold the hand upright in front of you then flexing down 90 degrees and wait for a minute.

You may feel pins and needles, numbness, tightness and strain all along the wrist and thumb area.

Then consult your physician for the further tests and advises.

According to Ayurveda it occurs due to the aggravated wind element in the body which leads to the lacking of the proper body fluids and dryness.

It delays brain signals to the concerned nerves.

Here the median nerve is involving.

Excessive work, continuously sitting on computers, poor exercises, stress, tension, disturbed sleep or lack of sleep these are some of the causes of aggravated wind element (vatha) in the body.

Ayurveda Management of Carpel tunnel Syndrome:

Ayurveda suggests all the food and Lifestyle to control the vatha (the wind element) in the body.

Proper sleep, Vatha pacifying diet, proper exercises, and rest.
Pouring the medicated warm Ayurveda oils on the wrist and palm will give marked relief.

Internal medications are mainly intended for vatha pacifying, nourishing the muscles and nerves.

It will reduce the pain and improve the nerve functioning.

Some of the Ayurveda herbal medications are as follows (It should be taken only after consulting your Ayurveda physician)

Back Pain - A Brief Outlook

Hello Readers and My Dear Patients,

Hope you all doing well. Today i am going to mention something for  the back pain patients.

All of us in any point of time in our life we might experience the Lower Back Ache.

Major Causes for Back Pain:

It is mainly affecting, due to the lac of exercises, over weight, hereditary factors, fall or accident history, Piles, constipation, urinary calculus, cysts or growth in the uterus or ovaries etc. are some of the most common causes for Lower Back ache.

It may be mainly affecting the lumbar area in the vertebral bones as stenosis, necrosis, prolapse, bulge, degeneration, compression and so on, as per the modern terminology.

According to Ayurveda,
in general we can say that, any pain is occurring due to the vitiation of the ‘vatha’dosha or the wind element in the body.
Vatha vitiation is happening due to the blockage in the channels (srothas).

It is mainly happening in two ways either due to the dryness in the channels for blood supply and nerve supply or due to the blockage by the excess fat or ‘dhurmedas’.

Treatment Principles:
In the first case, we have to clear the blockages by ‘snehana’ and ‘deepana’ then strengthen the nerves, muscles, tendons, blood vessels etc. to promote better circulation.

Hence resulting the over all rejuvenation.

Once the body became healthy, the disease is no more. That is the concept of Ayurveda.

In case of ‘kapha, medho’ aggravation we have to reduce the aggravated ‘kapha dosha’ and ‘dhur medas’.

Which gives lightness to the body, enthusiasm, clears the blockage in the channels hence resulting the better functioning of the nerves, tendons, muscles etc.

We will continue in the upcoming blogs.
Thank you for reading and sharing my blogs.

Hot Weather going to affect you; Some simple tips to protect yourself.

Hello Readers and My Dear Patients,

As you all know i am living at the center zone of Kerala, south India. The April just going to end,but this year it is getting very hot so early.

So we all, very anxious about the March, April and May.

I think it is going to record new high in the temperature chart this year.

Naturally scarcity of water, dust, pollution, and a number of communicable diseases may spread faster.

According to Ayurveda, six seasons are there, this period the "vasantha rithu" going to end and we are entering into "Greeshama Rithu" which will be the beginning of the hot season.

The vatha dosha will aggravate and the Pitha tending to go up - i mean the wind and fire element.
In this season we have to stay away from the food and lifestyle which will aggravate the wind and fire element in the body.

And prefer more food which gives cooling and unctuous properties after the digestion(after reaching the greeshma rithu).

Here is a list;
All the spicy are hot in potency so avoid chilly, pepper etc.

After the sisira rithu next comes the vasantha rithu(february-march) during this season the digestive power will be lesser so we should not take any heavy food stuff which is difficult to digest.

When it become hot, out side the human body, our internal fire energy spreading out hence digestion will be poor. That is why suggesting light and easily digestible food in this season.

Oil massages, oil application through the nostrils, induced vomiting etc can be done now with the direction of an ayurvedic physician in order to cleanse the system(panchakarma therapy).

Sandal paste can be applied over the body after the bath.

The meat should be grilled under fire before eating followed by honey.

Light alcoholic preparations and can accompany with lovely partner - recommended.

The drinking water can be boiled with dried ginger or water added with honey can be used for drinking purposes.

Day time sleep compulsorily avoided in this season.
To avoid sleep we can walk along the green forests or rest under the trees during the day-suggested.
In the diet strictly avoid heavy, cold, unctuous and citrus items.
For example avoid pork, lamb, deep fried items, burgers, pizza, diary products etc.

Can go for steamed and light break fast -porridge is better.
Dinner- soup based noodles preferred.

we will continue... your comments appreciated.
