Immunity- How to Improve and Maintain

Nowadays the most discussed topic is how to

improve the Immunity.

Running nose, sneezing, chillness of body, poor

appetite, tiredness, aches and pains in the body are

the signs of poor Immunity in general.

According to Ayurveda the above said symptoms

occurs in the condition called “Peenasam”. (We

can correlate this condition with Rhinitis).

In the ‘Peenasam’ condition the patient will have

the ‘Agnimandhyam’ (Poor digestion). Here the

patient will have poor digestive power, aversion

towards food etc.

 When the digestive power

become feeble the kapha dosha or the unctuous

properties in the body will be aggravated hence it

leads to the conditions like loss of appetite,

feverish feeling, tiredness and body pain.

In the vitiated kapha dosha stage it will create an

increased mucous coating in the digestive system

as well as in the respiratory system.

The aggravated intestinal mucosa will interrupt

the proper digestion and absorption of the food

materials.

There will be lacking of necessary vitamins,

minerals etc.

It will lead to Poor Immunity.

And also represents signs like wt. Loss, loose

bowels too.

When the aggravated ‘Kapha dosha’

(unctuousness) affecting the respiratory system,

the increased mucosa lining covers and constricts

the wind pipes which connects the nostrils to

lungs.
]

So the adequate supply of oxygen to the system

will be insufficient.

And shows the signs like

Sneezing, Running nose, cough etc.

When the infection spreads fever also will be there

 as associated symptom.

How to Manage?

Ayurveda management of ‘agnimandhya.

To improve the digestive power first thing we

should avoid all the heavy food stuff like meat

oily fried items, dairy products like ghee, butter,

 cheese etc.

And also we should avoid anything heavy to

digest.

Avoid Day time sleep.

Avoid or reduce sweets

If we got good digestive power the immunity will

be improved.

Food & Lifestyle which promote Immunity:

Prefer light and easily digestible food

Drink warm water frequently

chicken/ mutton/vegetable soup

buttermilk

tender coconut water

rice porridge

fruit juices

Citrus fruits

Oranges

Carrots, Beetroot

Lemon

Gooseberry

Ginger

Garlic

Onion

Pepper

Cumin seeds

Yoga / Breathing exercises/Light Exercises

These are a few among the list.

Back Pain - A Brief Outlook

Hello Readers and My Dear Patients,

Hope you all doing well. Today i am going to mention something for  the back pain patients.

All of us in any point of time in our life we might experience the Lower Back Ache.

Major Causes for Back Pain:

It is mainly affecting, due to the lac of exercises, over weight, hereditary factors, fall or accident history, Piles, constipation, urinary calculus, cysts or growth in the uterus or ovaries etc. are some of the most common causes for Lower Back ache.

It may be mainly affecting the lumbar area in the vertebral bones as stenosis, necrosis, prolapse, bulge, degeneration, compression and so on, as per the modern terminology.

According to Ayurveda,
in general we can say that, any pain is occurring due to the vitiation of the ‘vatha’dosha or the wind element in the body.
Vatha vitiation is happening due to the blockage in the channels (srothas).

It is mainly happening in two ways either due to the dryness in the channels for blood supply and nerve supply or due to the blockage by the excess fat or ‘dhurmedas’.

Treatment Principles:
In the first case, we have to clear the blockages by ‘snehana’ and ‘deepana’ then strengthen the nerves, muscles, tendons, blood vessels etc. to promote better circulation.

Hence resulting the over all rejuvenation.

Once the body became healthy, the disease is no more. That is the concept of Ayurveda.

In case of ‘kapha, medho’ aggravation we have to reduce the aggravated ‘kapha dosha’ and ‘dhur medas’.

Which gives lightness to the body, enthusiasm, clears the blockage in the channels hence resulting the better functioning of the nerves, tendons, muscles etc.

We will continue in the upcoming blogs.

Importance of Laxatives in Ayurveda Treatment

Hello Readers and My Dear Patients,

In most of the Ayurveda prescriptions will have the Laxative medication either in medicated oil, ghee or Powder form.

Ayurveda believes  the principle “prevention is better than cure” and in general all the illnesses is treating with the cleansing therapy mostly.

In Ayurveda, cleansing and rejuvenating the system in order to attain the balanced state of the three life forces and maintains the healthy state of mind and body.

The Importance of laxatives in Ayurveda treatment;

basically classified into two, Pacifying and Cleansing.
After the Cleansing therapy Pacifying medication will be continuing till attain the perfect health.

And also in cases where the illness is not that severe and do not affected the system deeply, here directly going for the Pacifying  medications.

The Cleansing therapy is involving five steps, five fold cleansing therapy called ‘Panchakarma’ therapy.

They are Vomiting (Vamanam), Purgation (Virechanam), Medicated enema (vasthi), Medication through Nostrils (Nasyam) and the blood letting (Rakthamoksham).

The Physician will fix the suitable methods upon the need of the condition of patient.

The Purgation (Virechanam) can be two forms either as the part of cleansing therapy or mild cleansing (mrudhu virechanam).

How the purgative medicine works?

In a diseased stage, the body contaminated in blocked channels all along the body (Srothas).

That is happening in two ways:

1.       When the wind element (Vatha Dosha)aggravates, drying up the lubricating agents in each and every tissues.

2.       When the Earth and Water elements (Kapha Dosha) aggravates there also the blockages occurring due to the fat accumulation excessively.

In both of the above cases,we have to take effort to clear the blockages by various methods.

Purgation with laxative medicines is one among them.

When we take the mild laxatives regularly it digesting and clearing the blocks and taking the impurities to the stomach then draining out.
It promotes the better circulation of body fluids and proper functioning of the nervous system.
And also  the absorption of food and eliminating the waste through sweat ,urine
and feces will happen properly.

Then we apply the medication to rejuvenate the system simultaneously, hence we get rid of the illnesses.

Hope you got a brief idea, your comments will be appreciated.
