The Spark Today

Hello Readers,

The Pandemic affecting us badly these days as it got spreading day by day.

It's going to affect the entire planet, Production, Sales, Tax income to the Goverment, Agriculture, Salary and all the sectors,

The goverment , Health Department, Doctors, Nurses, Police and many other Volenteering organisations are paying much attention on this rapidly spreading issue. We should appreciate their  services in this occassion.

Many awareness programs are happening through the print media as well as visual media.

All of us trying to follow, all those measures   given by the goverment bodies time to time, at our level best. That is the only reason why it is still under control.

At this level I would like to turn your attention to a different angle where it is going to affect us soon.

Certain precautionary measures will definitely help us.

Why can't we go for a simple lifestyle during this lockdown period ?

Light excercises like yoga and meditation in the morning or evening can be performed inside the home itself.

Then an oil bath with gentle Oil application.

Ancient Sanskrit text Ashtangahrudhayam explains very well about these in the chapters 'Dhinacharya' and 'Ruthucharya'.

I will try to narrate in the upcoming blogs.

Thanks for Reading and Sharing.

The Spark Today - Hygiene Matters

Hello Friends,

Here is an idea

why can't we cover the door handles, wash basin taps or any surfaces freequently used by many people?

We can use a medical / surgical bandage or even a clean cotton piece for this purpose.

Then apply some antiseptic lotion or sanitiser on it.

And Replace it every day or when it get soiled upon the frequency of usage.

Please comment the pros and cons in your views and add your suggestions too.

Thank you.

Say No to Pickles in your Daily Meal- Why?

Hello Readers and My Dear Patients,

Pickles a general item for a good Meal.

It is quiet common especially in south Indian meal menu.

The major ingredients are Sesame oil,Red Chilly,Salt,Mango or Lemon slices.

It is an food-adjuvent because it adds the taste of the meal and enhance the production of digestive enzymes,so it will promote good appetite.

And it induces the taste buds too. So we will have an nicely enjoyable meal.

But in certain diseased condition it is contra indicated in  Acidity,Esophageal ulcers,Belching,Chest burn,Skin diseases,Arthritis and Obesity.

In Acidity and Ulcer condition when take pickle it will enhance the production of digestive enzymes and acids hence it will aggravates the illness.

In case of Skin diseases; according to ayurveda skin diseases occurs due to the vitiation of the blood.

The pungent, salty and sour tastes will aggravates the vitiation of the blood and it is not good for the skin diseases.

In the Arthritis cases also the blood (Raktha Dhathu) is vitiating so we should avoid Pickle.

In Obesity condition; as the pickle enhance the gastric juice secretion and promotes good appetite,we will tend to eat more and more which leads to the weight gaining again.

So in the above mentioned conditions it is better to avoid the Pickles in your menu.

Immunity- How to Improve and Maintain

Nowadays the most discussed topic is how to

improve the Immunity.

Running nose, sneezing, chillness of body, poor

appetite, tiredness, aches and pains in the body are

the signs of poor Immunity in general.

According to Ayurveda the above said symptoms

occurs in the condition called “Peenasam”. (We

can correlate this condition with Rhinitis).

In the ‘Peenasam’ condition the patient will have

the ‘Agnimandhyam’ (Poor digestion). Here the

patient will have poor digestive power, aversion

towards food etc.

 When the digestive power

become feeble the kapha dosha or the unctuous

properties in the body will be aggravated hence it

leads to the conditions like loss of appetite,

feverish feeling, tiredness and body pain.

In the vitiated kapha dosha stage it will create an

increased mucous coating in the digestive system

as well as in the respiratory system.

The aggravated intestinal mucosa will interrupt

the proper digestion and absorption of the food

materials.

There will be lacking of necessary vitamins,

minerals etc.

It will lead to Poor Immunity.

And also represents signs like wt. Loss, loose

bowels too.

When the aggravated ‘Kapha dosha’

(unctuousness) affecting the respiratory system,

the increased mucosa lining covers and constricts

the wind pipes which connects the nostrils to

lungs.
]

So the adequate supply of oxygen to the system

will be insufficient.

And shows the signs like

Sneezing, Running nose, cough etc.

When the infection spreads fever also will be there

 as associated symptom.

How to Manage?

Ayurveda management of ‘agnimandhya.

To improve the digestive power first thing we

should avoid all the heavy food stuff like meat

oily fried items, dairy products like ghee, butter,

 cheese etc.

And also we should avoid anything heavy to

digest.

Avoid Day time sleep.

Avoid or reduce sweets

If we got good digestive power the immunity will

be improved.

Food & Lifestyle which promote Immunity:

Prefer light and easily digestible food

Drink warm water frequently

chicken/ mutton/vegetable soup

buttermilk

tender coconut water

rice porridge

fruit juices

Citrus fruits

Oranges

Carrots, Beetroot

Lemon

Gooseberry

Ginger

Garlic

Onion

Pepper

Cumin seeds

Yoga / Breathing exercises/Light Exercises

These are a few among the list.
